As the saying goes, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” In the present era, scientific research is advancing at an unprecedented pace, involving abstract, invisible, or highly complex phenomena not easily understood by common man. Art serves as a powerful bridge between complex scientific concepts and the general public, transforming abstract ideas into visuals that are both relatable and engaging (1). The right visual design not only simplifies the science but also enriches its impact; making information more accessible, fostering curiosity, and deepening public understanding of health care.
Both scientific illustration and visual art help share research with the public in a clear and engaging way. A well-designed scientific illustration in a scientific paper ensures accuracy and clarity, and can instantly convey the essence of an entire study; saving time, enhancing comprehension, and capturing the reader’s attention (2).
In contrast, the aesthetic dimension of science becomes visible, when scientific processes are creatively represented through artistic expression with mediums such as painting, sculpture or digital media. Thus enabling viewers; regardless of their scientific background, to engage with complex topics and foster understanding (3).
Thus, scientific discovery and artistic expression merge accuracy with aesthetics, logic with creativity, and analysis with imagination enabling science to be not only understood but also experienced (4).
